THE_KICKER
Well, It's kind of funny. My friend was having problems with his computer. It was running slow and freezing a lot, so he asked my to help. I suggested to erase everything and install win2K from scratch.(He had win Me before).
So I erased all partitions and logical drives on his machine and created new partition with logical drive c:. When I was trying to format drive c: I got error msg: "Parameter format incorrect - c". So I am stack with it and my friend do not have working computer any more. And he thought I am smart ... My guess it is some kind of virus, because you can see hard drive in BIOS. Does somebody know where do get(download) some kind of VIRUS KILLER FLAPPY DISK or maybe it's not a virus at all. Any suggestions will do!

what exactly did u type at command prompt?

you should type "format c:" not "format c"

bill
Если собрался ставить Win2k с NTFS, то boot from CD и следуй указаниям на мониторе. Tам тебе и partition и format, единсвенное что необходимо, это внимательно читать и поняв прочитанное, нажать правильную кнопку.

THE_KICKER
I tried both "format c" and "format c:" I knew it should be "format c:". When I typed "format c" it gave me error msg right away. When I typed "format c:" it was "thinking" for a moment and gave me the same msg.

TO BILL,
I guess that I will not be able to boot from CD because I got win2K pro, Win2K server, and Win2K advanced server on the same CD, but I will give a try. Thanks!

THE_KICKER: just boot from a floppy and run a setup, and do what Bill said to do
Yanch
Try to erase the partitions again (with fdisk) and create a new activeone with a logical drive in it. Don't do a format from a DOS diskette, it will format the disk with FAT. Just reboot and run Win2k setup... Should work.

Вот вспомнилось:
У тебя при старте не появляется сообщение типа "EZ-BIOS BootUp"?
THE_KICKER
No, I do not get msg "EZ-BIOS BootUp". I am able to boot from floppy and start setup, but after win2K test hardware it gives msg "That there is no hard drive, where to install OS." however I can see hard drive in BIOS.

Try to switch off the Virus-Protection in BIOS of your comp, if it activated, and format drive c: again.
THE_KICKER
TO GAMMA,
thanks, it WORKED , but what does it mean...is some kind of virus sitting on the hard drive?

No, the BIOS protect your PC from virus, trying to format hard drive, and also from you . Now you can activate this protection again.
