I. Capture-Settings:
a) VCR

------Chunks in buffer = 15 (Total buffer: 15360K)

------Entry 1 ... Path = CapturePath e.g. F (RAID-0 Array suggested)
------Entry 2 ... Path = any other (!MUST! be specified otherwise VD would crash)
------Try not ... smaller than = 50

c) Start Capture for ~5 Seconds (F7) then stop.
---repeat step c) until Framerate is 100% stabilized and the CPU-Usage is acceptable!
d) Start your VCR, hit F7 and wait until Movie has finished.
II. Pre-Processing:
a) Cut and Fill
---(1) null tranform -> crop vertical to Frame-Size (!remove! noisy Scanlines)
---(2) fill = right Border (paint over !all! noisy Border-Pixels)
---(3) fill = left Border (paint over !all! noisy Border-Pixels)
b) De-Flicker Preparation
---Ctrl+Left (Move to beginning)
---deactivate "Display Input/Output video" (Options menu)
---(4) deflicker 1.0

-------Softening = 12 (reduce if source is free of "Spots" i.e. captured from TV-Broadcast)

-------(*) Prepare video
---[PLAY o] (!Output! video)
(duration ~1.7 x Movielength)
III. Final-Processing:
a) Instantly switch DeFlicker Mode to "Process video" !before! you do anything else!!!
---(make shure it will !NEVER! be turned back into Prepare-Mode again or you will !loose! all Statistical-Data)
---You can Backup these Statistic-Files ("filt" and "log"). They are stored in the VirtualDUB Program-Folder.
---Softening = 10 (or lower)
b) Add-Filters
---(5) deinterlace - PAL movie 1.1 (the only one for perfect PAL-de-interlacing!)
---(6) smart smoother 1.0 beta 4 (removing statical Luma-Noises and interpolating/averageing Chrominance)

-------Threshold = 70 (lower this if noise is still to high and increase if you loose to much sharpness/contrast)
---(7) levels (needed when source-signal is to "strong" -> luminance to high i.e. with new Tapes)
-------[ ] Operate in luma instead of RGB (probably should be left enabled when captureing in YUY/UVYV)
-------Output levels = 0, 231 (example for "Episode I Widescreen" with high Luminance)
c) Compression (suggested for a 2h Movie to fit on 3 CDR?s ? 700MB)

----------Data Rate = 3000
---Audio: MPEG Layer-3
----------128 kBit/s, 44.100 Hz, Stereo 16Kb/s
(duration ~7 x Movielength)
*I used the Interleave Defaults: Preload = 500ms, Interleave every 1frame
*Cleanup and Normalize the Audio (i.e. under CoolEdit and its Click/Pop Eliminator)
